Meal Plan for the week!

Meal plan for the week is kinda boring, kinda repetitive but with this nice weather we want to spend less than an hour doing meal prep this week. So that means lots of raw veggies, minimal variety, and quick meals.

With any meal we make, I don't include what spices we use but we always add a little flare to it. Our two favorite go to's are homemade cajan spice mix, and an Italian mix. Have to keep the taste buds happy so that is how we do it!

💥Help us out for next week and suggest a meal that we can try!!

Saving money on grocery shopping!

SAVING PENNIES everywhere :) You may think we are crazy, but we are super excited and TOTAL NERDS! This past Sunday Amanda and I FINALLY did something we have been wanting to start FOREVER! We buy a lot of items in large amounts such as flax seeds, almonds, chia seeds, quinoa, farro, lentils, black beans, chick peas...you name it! We are even getting into the habit of buying the beans you have to soak instead of the ones in the can. The gooey mess that comes on those canned beans just gives me the creeps sometimes!

So...we went around to a few stores and compared prices. It even blew my mind that some items at whole foods were cheaper in the bulk, and some were cheaper in the bag. It was a lot of fun and of course we were totally geeking out when we found a cheaper price. Highly recommend people try this out :) We will be updating this sheet as we continue to compare and save!!

Vegan 21 day fix meal plan

Another week of going vegan!  It honestly has been a pretty awesome journey so far.  One thing for sure I am noticing is that I am sleeping a lot better!  (wahoo I love sleep!!) There is no reason for us in particular for doing this, just something we wanted to give a try.

After completing the 21 day ultimate reset in November, we felt really good not eating animal proteins.  Then we read an extremely interesting study called the China Study (highly recommend getting the audible version as it sometimes can be boring and a tough read).  It just helped us put some things into perspective.

But by all means, this is not 100% of the time.  The biggest thing we have "cheated" with is cheese.  Occasionally we will have something with cheese on it as a cheat meal but then get right back on track the next day.  Surprisingly, a new guilty vegan friendly pleasure is cashew parmesan cheese!

1 cup raw cashews
1/4 cup nutritional yeast (cheesy flavor)
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
Blend it all up and you have cashew parmesan cheese!!

So...meal plan for the week is here!  Can not wait for all of this food because it is simply delicious!!

Week 3 of Beachbody's Ultimate Reset

How the hell was week 3?!!

I will tell you that it was another yummy week of food!  TONS of fruits and vegetables and honestly I looked forward to my morning dose of fruit.  Some mornings I even sprinkled a little cinnamon on top to kick things up a notch but it really wasn't necessary.

Some of the meals required a bit more prep work and some were super easy to throw together. There was always the reset in a crunch page that we could rely upon if we had a lot going on.  Knowing that option was available for sure eased our minds.

Things I did not expect to like...fennel. When it said it had a licorice scent to it while cooking, I was skeptical.  But Amanda and I both really enjoyed it and it allowed us to open our world to a new food.  Another food I was not sure of was an avocado and cucumber cold soup.  I definitely added a bit more spices to it to kick it up a notch and add a bit of pop to it, but overall was not bad. The sweet potato and roasted red pepper bisque in week 2 is still my favorite though!!  A favorite that we would make any day of the week is the garlic veggies.  Super fast to whip together and adding the aminos at the end (a healthy soy sauce) gave it some great flavor!!

So let's talk about some things I realized in week 3...
~I wear a night guard (hahaha I know) and I realized that by giving up my terrible habit of chewing gum, I was not grinding as much....WINNING!!
~Amanda and I spent a lot more time together, talked more, and grew even closer together.  Definitely something that I was happy to see as our lives get beyond busy at times and there are times we don't talk that much because of it.  With both of us having a ton of energy, I felt like we were energizer bunnies that would not shut up!
~The energy.  Wow.  We had tons of it.  I did start to miss sweating, even though week 3 of yoga in the program 3 week yoga retreat is no joke, I love a hard workout.  Thankfully I was able to bust out a sweat after the program was over :)

The results.....DRUM ROLL PLEASE!
I was truly amazed from the inside out and was almost in tears when I realized the transformation I had.

*I lost 11 pounds in 21 days
*I lost 15 inches total around my body.  (yeah, my jeans feel pretty damn good! And my shorts for vacation next week will be just perfect!)  Amanda saying "OMG where did your ass go?" just makes me laugh!
*The biggest inches lost were 3.5 off my hips
*Also included in that total was 3 inches off the biggest part of each of my thighs.
*Lastly, 2 inches around my belly.

Honestly I could not feel any better about this transformation.  This program truly set me on a path that I am super excited for.  Amanda and I are slowly transitioning into a healthy eating style still but increasing the calories to match our workout program now.  It will be really interesting to start introducing foods back into our meal plan and see how our bodies react!  I am sure there is more to come :)  If you are ever interested in trying this program, you can always email me at LynnG258@gmail.com or find me on Facebook at Lynn Gugliuzza.

21 Day Fix Meal Plan for the week!

It has been a while since being home and meal prepping.  WOW have we not missed doing dishes!  A dishwasher is definitely on the MUST HAVE list when we start house hunting.

Very excited to be home after tons of traveling and have a fully stocked fridge.  New recipes on the menu including a homemade black bean burger, creamy avocado zoodles, and a bean salsa to top our salads with.  All 21 day fix approved!

Workouts will include a combination of body beast/ insanity max 30/ and some outdoor running!  We will have to find a place for an additional protein in our meal plan, which will most likely be another shake each day.

Have a great week everyone!  And as always whenever you have meal plan questions or questions on workouts, shoot me an email at LynnG258@gmail.com.

Conquering the month of MAY!

Have to start of the month of May on the right foot and get meal planning going.  I have the tendency to fall off the wagon when I do not have a plan.  I somewhat plan meals, somewhat keep track of what I need to eat as far as how many proteins, veggies, carbs..etc.  But usually do not stay on track because I am literally just grabbing anything I have and getting on with my day.

Starting off this month right with a MEAL PLAN!!

For those who have not done the 21 day fix (beachbody workout and nutrition program)...
JUST DO IT!!

I can not say it enough because it just makes meal planning so so easy!  As you can see above I have highlighted my colors in how many types of food in each category.  Now I may tweak it here and there to add additional calories, if needed, from doing some days of double workouts.  But other than that, meal planning REALLY helps planning the grocery list so that I do not over buy food and end up wasting.  I will be integrating a hybrid workout program of insanity max 30 / 21 day fix extreme / and running.

Time to conquer the month of May!!
